Carson City has one of the two full service DMVs in Northern Nevada. The Reno and Carson City DMVs provide all services including new driver road tests. There are additional rural DMVs in Northern Nevada which limit their services to local residents only.
Practice Route #1: This is an easy exam route however you will benefit from being familiar with this area. Watch for the many pedestrian crosswalks which are all well marked, specifically along Stewart. You should also become familiar with the school zone and any speed limit restrictions around King and Thompson streets.
Practice Route #2: This route has a very long straight stretch on S. Stewart Street. Make sure you are familiar with this area, as there are many lighted pedestrian crosswalks which are all well marked, specifically along Stewart. Pay attention to the school zone near the middle of the route.
DMV Parking Lot: Watch closely for pedestrians near the DMV – their overflow parking lot is across the street from their building and there is a lot of foot traffic both in the parking lot and along Wright Way.

As such those rumors about testing location differences is probably out of date. Bottom line - practice, know the area, try our practice routes, and drive safe. Good luck.
