Las Vegas W Flamingo DMV Overview

The W Flamingo DMV is one of the busier of the Las Vegas metro field offices.  As with all of the Las Vegas DMVs, the parking lots are congested with lots of traffic and pedestrians.  Proceed slowly.

Practice Route #1
This course is fairly long and includes a combination of light commercial and residential neighborhoods.  There are many long straight stretches – make sure you stay within posted speed limits and execute proper lane changes when required (Signal, Mirrors, Over-the-Shoulder, Go).  Also be aware of bike lanes when present and marked, particularly near school zones.

There are two school zones that you will encounter.  The first is along S El Capitan Way as you are approaching W Spring Mountain.  The second is the Bryan Elementary School on S Cimarron close to the DMV.   We have marked these on our maps and dashcam videos – but be mindful of school zones and watch speed limits when children are present.

Practice Route #2

This route is very straightforward.  Shortly after exiting left out of the DMV parking lot you will turn right into a residential neighborhood.  Be mindful of the reduction in speed limit.  Similar to Route #1, be aware of bike lanes and pedestrian crossings.  You will also pass by the Bryan Elementary School – speed restrictions in place within the designated school zone.

Practice Route #3

Similar to Route #1, this course has some very long straight stretches.   Demonstrate proper lane control, and stay within posted speed limits.  Watch for the speed restrictions and cross walks along S. Buffalo near Spring Valley HS.  There are additional school zones along S. Torrey Pines, as well as a marked school zone crossing on W Flamingo near Ravenwood.  Be aware of speed restrictions in these areas.

We anticipate that there are other test routes in the area and would ask our contributors to submit directions, maps or dashcam videos through the Contact Us section of our website.

Thank you, good luck on your test, and feel free to post questions to other teens in our forum below.

@Community Manager at Hack The DMV

JZ your instructor is correct. The NV DMV dropped the parallel parking component of the test several years ago as it was considered a non-essential... Read More

If you live hear Spring Valley HS you may want to consider the Flamingo DMV as you will be familiar with the streets in the area. We have excellent maps/videos of the 3 primary areas that the instructors use. I suggest you try each route.
